Saturday Training Classes

Saturday Training for our Adoptable Dogs

Every Saturday morning, our trainers and volunteers work with training our adoptable dogs. Our goal is to teach them all of the basics to set them up for success in their new home. Come and watch...better yet...come and ADOPT!!!

Missy also goes through Saturday morning training and knows all kinds of tricks. Missy is a 4 year old American Stafford Terrier although we did submit her DNA for testing and her results showed Dalmatian and Chihuahua in her family tree! Missy has great training skills which our volunteers and staff have been working on. She is extremely loving and looking for her forever family. Come and visit her at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. Our adoption center is open daily from 11am-6pm. You can also learn more at www.PeggyAdams.org!

Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League also offers training for the public with their dogs.
  • If you have just adopted a dog and need a little help with the transition, we invite you to attend one of our free (donations appreciated) "drop-in" classes to help you learn the basic commands for you and your new canine partner.
  • All classes are held outside in the training field or inside during bad weather.
  • Classes are held every Saturday - please arrive by 8:30am. Classes start promptly at 9am.
Topics Covered in the Classes:
  • Teaching your dog to sit, lay down, stay, and come
  • Learning to walk your dog in a controlled manner
  • Using techniques to prevent unwanted behavior, like jumping
  • Improved communication and understanding between you and your dog

Scent Training at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League

At Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League we understand that it's important that we care for both the physical and mental health of our dogs and cats. As part of that commitment, we've expanded our animal behavior services. One of these exercises has our adoptable dogs perform a scent training exercise. Here you can see Missy in action.

Our upcoming issue of the Shaggy Sheet will tell you more about some of the other behavior services we're offering our adoptable animals. It's all about preparing our dogs and cats for their new forever homes.

If you have a dog, you might want to check out training classes. They offer you and your animal the chance to bond and learn together.

It was a busy week at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League as we also received a a four wheeled surprise that should help our four legged friends.

Kong!

Peggy Adams Animal Rescue Leauge, Adopt a dog Palm Beach County, Spay and neuter West Palm Beach
The perfect mix!
Part of our Canine Enrichment program includes the use of Kongs. For many dogs, these rubber toys are indestructible and too rigid to be chewed into pieces.

With the help of our fantastic volunteers, we fill the Kongs with a variety of treats. We then freeze them. When they are ready to go, our dogs get hours of fun and mental stimulation playing with them and trying to find the food.

Thank You Barbara!
But Kongs are about more than just a good time. They help dogs and puppies maintain their mental, physical, and emotional health so that they remain good adoption candidates and don’t become behaviorally at risk. Kongs have been shown to decrease separation anxiety, promote proper chewing behavior, and deter misbehavior.

This program is just one of the many ways we are striving to make our dogs as comfortable as possible during their stay with us as well as prepare them for their future forever homes.

Kennel Zen is another of our Canine Enrichment programs.

Are You the Leader of the Pack?

Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, Walk for the Animals, adopt a dog palm beach county
Maybe you are the "Big Dog" in your group of friends or family. You're the one who organizes everyone. You take pride in making sure they all have fun.

We're looking for people to organize packs (also known as teams) for this year's Barry Crown Walk For the Animals. It's the March 9th event that puts the "fun" in fundraiser.

We not only want you to create a team (of at least five people) but we also want you to have fun while doing it. Come up with a catchy name for your group, dress up in memorable costumes, and unleash your creativity. Why not get started right now?

You'll have a great time at this half day event and go home knowing that you've made a tremendous difference in the lives of so many animals who only want a new home.

Maybe in your group of friends, you're more of a small pup. Feel free to forward this message to the leader of your pack. Together we'll make this our best Walk for the Animals ever.
