Behind the Scenes: Calls

On an average day, we receive close to 400 calls to our call center. A small group of staff and volunteers answer the phones.

Many of our callers are in a state of crisis. It's up to our team to calmly pass on the right information or transfer them to someone who can help.

Volunteers play a key role in helping us sort through the chorus of rings.

Talking with the public can be a delicate customer service balance. We want to make sure that we take the time to address your needs. However, that means that some will be sent to voicemail.

While we always make the best attempt to answer all calls, our goal is to answer ever call, every time.

And while we are happy to speak with you, we have put most of our information on our website, which is www.hspb.org. Not sure where to look? Keep in mind there is a search bar on the top right section of the page.

You can help strengthen our call center by volunteering as a member of our Phone Force. After you're trained, we ask that you volunteer for one assigned three-hour shift per week between the hours of 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
