Milo & Mika

At Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League we sometimes see some unusual things in our lobby. Today we met best friends, Milo and Mika.

Mika is a lemur and Milo is a cat. We caught up with the pair while Milo was getting a shot at our clinic.

As is the case with any adoption, where there is already an existing animal in the home, it's good to bring the pair together on a "first date" at our shelter, so everyone can see if they are a good match.

Looking to meet some animals on your own? You certainly need to come out to our upcoming Walk for the Animals. March 9 will be here before you know it. To register visit WalkWithPeggy.org

Would You Like a $100 Gift Card?

Adams Animal Rescue Leauge, Walk for the Animals, Target gift card

As you know our Walk for the Animals is one of our most important fundraisers at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. The money raised will mean so much to the dog, cat, puppy, or kitten who needs a second chance. Last year, your support helped us find new homes for 3,263 animals.

We need your help to make sure this event is a success. Another strong year of individual and team fundraising will allow us to do even more for our animals. They are counting on us.

Thanks to the generosity of Target, we are able to offer you a special incentive. If you have raised $50 for the Walk by March 1st, we will enter you in a drawing for a $100 Target gift card.

Adams Animal Rescue Leauge, Walk for the Animals, Target gift card, Walk with PeggyEven if your name is not drawn, you'll already be a winner as you'll be entitled to a Walk for the Animals T-shirt and bandana.

But wait, there's more: Our Walk T-Shirt is not only the perfect fashion choice but also a way to take advantage of special sales being held at local stores and restaurants.

Starting this process is easy. Simply visit our WalkWithPeggy website to register and start fundraising (From there we'll be able to see who has raised more than $50).

And don't forget that our top fundraiser will receive a one week stay at the Grand Luxxe Residence Club in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. This 3000 sq ft private villa includes 2 bedrooms with private balconies and a mini suite with another balcony. Included is a 16 round of golf plus beautiful and meticulous 5 star amenities. This trip typically would cost $1549 a night! (Airfare included for 2 people up to $2000 total. Trip valid anytime in 2013 or 2014!)

There are many incentives to those who take an active role in supporting our Walk. But perhaps the greatest gift is knowing that you're making an incredible gift to so many animals in need.

Please Wear Ties and Long Dresses

Actually, we don't want you to wear ties and long dresses for The Barry Crown Walk for the Animals. That would be silly.

Well actually silly is good but we want it to be the right kind of silly!

You see, many of our Walk Teams love to dress up. You will smile when you notice them decked out in  special shirts, wearing fun hats, or celebrating with a particular theme.

It's a fun way to make an enjoyable day even better. We're ready to be dazzled by your creativity.

How do you get started? Form a team at our walk website WalkWithPeggy. It only takes a minute and it's free to register. Once you're registered you can personalize your page.

Don't forget that your dogs can also enjoy dress up. We will once again have a costume contest.

Our Walk for the Animals is known for being both a pet and people friendly event. Have fun and let's celebrate the joy our animals bring us.

Kong!

Peggy Adams Animal Rescue Leauge, Adopt a dog Palm Beach County, Spay and neuter West Palm Beach
The perfect mix!
Part of our Canine Enrichment program includes the use of Kongs. For many dogs, these rubber toys are indestructible and too rigid to be chewed into pieces.

With the help of our fantastic volunteers, we fill the Kongs with a variety of treats. We then freeze them. When they are ready to go, our dogs get hours of fun and mental stimulation playing with them and trying to find the food.

Thank You Barbara!
But Kongs are about more than just a good time. They help dogs and puppies maintain their mental, physical, and emotional health so that they remain good adoption candidates and don’t become behaviorally at risk. Kongs have been shown to decrease separation anxiety, promote proper chewing behavior, and deter misbehavior.

This program is just one of the many ways we are striving to make our dogs as comfortable as possible during their stay with us as well as prepare them for their future forever homes.

Kennel Zen is another of our Canine Enrichment programs.
