Every animal who arrives at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League is beautiful but sometimes they need a little help cleaning up. That's where grooming comes in.
Did you know that these dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens receive some extra TLC in our grooming room? Maybe they need a haircut, a shampoo, or even a nail clipping.
This process takes time and costs money but we want to make sure that our adoptable animals are looking and feeling their best. Susan, from our staff, does a great job of trimming, washing, and tending to the needs of each dog.
Pet Praise has been a wonderful partner in this effort. The company donates shampoo and conditioner.
To see first hand how this ongoing donation is making a difference, watch this video:
Does your dog need a good washing? You might want to bring him or her to our Walk for the Animals event which this year will feature a Celebrity Pet Wash.

Santa knows that it can be hard to find the perfect gift for your friends, family, and your animals. Mr. Claus knows that if someone has been "nice" this past year, the perfect present can be found at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League.
Santa suggests that you visit the Shaggy Shoppe, which is next to our main lobby in the Grace Pavilion. Inside you'll find more than 800 items including animal toys, treats, car magnets, leashes, and transport carriers. Did we mention that we also have a selection of holiday themed costumes that will make your animal the hit of any party.
Maybe you're in search of a different kind of treasure. You'll likely find it at our Thrift Store.New items like furniture, antiques, art, and clothing appear every day. Our Thrift Store is just a short sleigh ride away at 1905 S. Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach. Store Hours: Monday through Saturday from 9:00am to 6:00pm. Want an up-close preview? Watch this video:
Santa also know that some shoppers want our animals to receive support during the holiday season. They make a donation to Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League in honor of friends, family, and beloved cats and dogs. Making a gift online is easy and a lot less painful than standing on line at a busy store.
Maybe you'd like your gift to be something you, your family and friends, and your animals can do together. Then you might want to create a team and register for our annual Barry Crown Walk for the Animals event. This amazing day will take place on March 9 at Downtown at the Gardens. To find out more and to create your team, go to Walk With Peggy.
Put a Peggy Adams Animal Rescue twist on your holiday giving. You'll surprise people with great gifts and help the animals at the same time as all proceeds go directly to the care of our cats and dogs.
History
was made at the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League’s annual Christmas Ball. The
40th edition of the Ball saw the shelter toast its 3,000th
adoption for 2012.
One
of the highlights of the evening is always the parade of adoptable dogs and
cats through the dining room. It was then that a dog named Tiger made history.
“Once
he put his paw on me, that was it,” said Timothy Scanlon. He and his family
then decided to adopt Tiger.
Every
dog, cat, puppy, or kitten that comes to Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League
receives a wellness check, is spay/neutered, given appropriate vaccinations and
a microchip identifier. All adoptions include free dog and puppy training.
“To
have 3,000 adoptions in one year is amazing,” said Rich Anderson. “And to have
it happen with so many friends and supporters in the room at our ball made the
moment even sweeter.”
Every
day new adoptable animals arrive at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League and are
promoted on the agency’s website: hspb.org.
“There
are so many loving animals in need of a forever home in Palm Beach County,”
said Anderson. “With the help our staff and volunteers, creative promotions,
and fantastic animals, we’ve managed to set a new record. Our commitment will
continue in 2013.”
How did a cat from Boynton Beach end up hanging on a guardrail along I-95 in Lake Worth?
Susan Patrona's best guess is that Minnie sneaked into her husband's vehicle and went on a joyride, jumping out at some point.
However the six year old was not having any fun when she was spotted and picked up by a police officer.
Minnie has a microchip but it turns out the contact information was incorrect. Fortunately, we were able to connect with her family through other means and can report a happy reunion for all.
Still this is a great reminder of the importance of microchips and periodically making sure that their contact info is up to date. Remember, if you move, the information will not automatically update. If something was originally entered incorrectly, it will not be automatically fixed.
If you ever lose your pet, you want to have confidence that you've done everything possible to get your furry friend home ASAP. Keep your animal's microchip number handy and make sure that the contact information is current.
Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League knows that microchips provide an extra layer of protection. Our shelter offers both
microchips and pet ID tags. Visible PetID tags are the best way to get
your pet back if they are ever lost.
Microchipping is offered daily between the hours of 10AM and 5PM. No appointment necessary.
The cost to microchip your pet is $15.00. We offer HomeAgain Microchips which are registered with HomeAgain's Pet Recovery System.
Please call (561) 686-3663 or email us for more information. And please share this information with any dog or cat lovers you know.
Getting the perfect holiday picture of your dog or cat can be a challenge. You may want to get yourself in the action too. But somehow, you can never get things just right. Either you or your animals look a little off.
We've got the solution. Come to our Pet Photos with Santa event. It's on December 1st from noon until 4 p.m. at City Place.
We provide the holiday backdrop, the picture, and (most importantly) Santa!
Psst: Did you know that Santa is really good with animals? He's more than just a reindeer expert.
The person behind the camera will be Tom Brodigan of Dogslife Photography. Tom does a great job of capturing the natural qualities of your animal.
Pet Photos with Santa is a fundraiser for Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. For a suggested donation of $10, you will receive your memorable photo though a digital download. So it will be easy for you to forward this keepsake to loved ones, post on social media, or incorporate into your own holiday cards.
The event, which will be hosted by WRMF radio's Jennifer Ross, will also feature some of our adoptable animals.
Great pets, great pictures, and a great holiday memory. Make this year's one you'll never forget!
Take
the Chairman’s Challenge – and your donation will go even further to help the
animals!
If
you make a donation today – before December 31 – another generous donor is
donating an extra $1 for every $3 you give to the animals.
Your
$15 gift becomes $20 … your $30 gift becomes $40 … your $90 gift becomes $120!
Allen - Arrived July 5 2012
As we look back on 2012, we will remember a summer that
saw us flooded with more than 1,000 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens… all in
need of homes. That’s more than twice many animals we took in during the same time
last year.
The cost of caring for these animals and finding them
new homes topped $400,000. We couldn’t turn our backs on these dogs and cats
despite the unexpected cost.
An amazing donor has stepped up to help us. Now through
the end of the year, for every $3 you donate, he will give another $1 for the
animals. We call it our Chairman’s
Challenge.
Cooper - Arrived August 17, 2012
We hope you’ll consider making a special, one-time special
gift for the animals through this campaign. It’s a great way to increase the
impact of your contribution.
To give online, simply follow this linkand write, “Chairman’s Challenge” in the comments section. If you’d rather mail
your gift, please write “Chairman’s Challenge” on your check or envelope.
Thank you for being a loyal and valued friend to the
League during this time of unprecedented challenge.
Please share this post if you know of someone who should read it.
Did you know? This year Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League will provide services to more than 20,000 animals.
Olivia arrived at Peggy Adams
Animal Rescue League as the scared victim of an animal hoarder. She had a
damaged hip joint and legs full of BBs after being shot repeatedly and abused.
In order to repair this cruelty and neglect, Olivia needed extensive surgery.
Because of her
medical problems and the high cost of surgery, many people were afraid to adopt her. We
couldn't let her medical needs keep us from providing her with a happy future.
During an adoption event, with the help of friends like you, we were able to go
the extra mile to save her life.
Julia
In honor of Olivia, we set up a special fund to help give
a second chance to dogs and cats with medical and behavioral issues that can be
fixed with surgery, special medical treatment or training. Naturally, we
decided to call it "Olivia's Fund."
Julia was one of the first animals to get help from Olivia's Fund. She suffered
from a bone defect in her leg that needed surgery. With the help of Olivia's
Fund, Julia was taken to a local orthopedic specialist for her life-changing
surgery. After eight months of recovery with one of our volunteer foster families,
Julia was adopted into a wonderful, caring home. Julia's life was saved.
Olivia's Fund is just one of the ways we care for the animals in our community. It's our commitment to you that we will create a community where 100% of our adoptable dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens find loving homes. Through this link, you can show your support for our mission right now.
